These Old Houses

Pet memories live here.

The smaller house (for decades referred to as the “Cat Condo”) is now inside the bigger “Dog House” on my wooden deck.

Modern composite two-section construction allows removing the roof(s) for cleaning and in this case nesting.

For over thirty five years two different pairs of rescued sibling cats overlapped their interconnected lives with two dogs, saved one at a time.

The furry faces that once stared out during extreme weather now live in memories of this weathered human; along with fading scars – from claw sharpening and high speed maneuvers to other random acts of wildness..

Nested and vacant these empty little houses now silently wait for a probable wild visitor, maybe an abandoned seeker or inevitable territorial drifter. Perhaps a fresh relocation(s) some day awaits.

In this evolving journal of ‘Life happening while making other plans..’ the future will sort itself out, in time.
